Mahasweta


Once again I welcome you all to my new blog on the book, "mahasweta" by Sudha Murti. In this book, Sudha Murti highlights the suffering of a woman who is left out from her husband's house. Initially Anupama the female protagonist plays a very bold character in the novel.
So let us have a look at the story.


The story is about a girl named Anupama (Anu), who is utterly beautiful and is a golden-hearted girl. She is good at acting, studies. Due to her acting skills, she organises various play for the charitable purpose. During one of her such play, a renowned doctor and handsome man. Dr.Anand gets mesmerized by her beauty and sends a proposal of marriage. Anu's stepmother, Sabbakka wanted to get rid of her so she accepts the proposal. Anu was from the middle-class family and could not afford the expenses of wedding hence Anand and his mother Raddakka bears the whole expenses.  Further, Anand goes to England for his higher studies and Anu stays here to perform her first Diwali pooja. Everything was going fine until one day she finds that she has a white patch on her body which is a leucoderma. Her mother in law throws her out of the house because of having this disease. She finds not even single support from her maternal house. Anu writes thousands of letter to Anand and waits for his reply. Year's passed and now anu left the hope of getting a reply from her husband. Anand, on the other hand, found it difficult to cope up with the reality that the beauty he was mesmerized at had started fading and ignored all the letters written by Anu. Fed up from the villagers taunts Anu moves to Mumbai to build a good career. 

At last, Anand cames in search of Anu but will she accept him?  Will she be able to forget the pain and suffering she went through. Read the book to know more.
